Wabi-Sabi Beauty

"Beauty can be coaxed out of ugliness."

Wabi Sabi by Leonard Koren for artists, designers, poets and philosophers

Does it feel like the world is getting uglier...or more beautiful?  On the surface maybe and yet if you look a little deeper you will find great beauty.

This is why I love Wabi-Sabi... it is the practice of imperfection, of seeing beauty everywhere.  It is looking deeply and valuing what seems
ugly, discarded, worthless...
Wabi Sabi isn't what we see but how we see.

"Wabi-sabi suggests that beauty is a dynamic event that occurs between you and something else.  Beauty can spontaneously occur at any moment give the proper circumstances, context, or point of view.  Beauty is thus an altered state of consciousness, and extraordinary moment of poetry and grace."

Storms create change.. invention comes from necessity.  I once read to never fear the storms...they hold the energy to transform.

Sometimes we need to clean out the clutter of life... old beliefs and patters.
To give ourselves a chance to change.  To move forward how we wish to see the world, instead of how it has always been done.  To trim the trees, bushes and injustices.

Change rarely comes when we are comfortable

We are uncomfortable

Out attention has been attained

How we choose to see and to be will determine how we move through this storm and what we create from it.

"Like homeopathic medicine, the essence of wabi-sabi is apportioned in small does.  As the dose decreases, the effect becomes more potent, more profound.  The closer things get to nonexistence, the more exquisite and evocative they become.  Consequently to experience wabi-sabi means you have to slow way down, be patient and look very closely."  Wabi Sabi By Leonard Koren

Road side wild daisies
Beauty is everywhere...Look deeply

The human spirit is very much alive...we are awake.
Change is essential to growth.
Look for what is beautiful
Be what is beautiful.

As you travel... whatever your path may be... always keep your focus on where you are going and not what you are leaving behind.
We are all imperfect, different, unknown...ugly and
 absolutely beautiful.
From my heart to yours,
         Denise
